Spotlight: When it rains, insights pour!

What’s nature telling us?

That’s the question we set out to answer each month with our Spotlight series, featuring one of our partners and what they’re learning via Temboo.

This month, we’re taking a closer look at our work with Rockland County Soil & Water Conservation District! Here’s some key insights:

  • What: River depth
  • Where: Minisceongo Creek, Garnerville, New York
  • Who: Rockland County Soil and Water Conservation District & Temboo
  • How: Stream gauge sensor

What happens to a creek when it rains? We all know that the water rises, but that’s about all we know.

Exactly how much does the water level rise? And how long does it take for the water to go back to normal depth? A few hours? A few days? Now we can put numbers to those questions at Minisceongo Creek in Rockland County. These numbers provide valuable insights into the flooding and erosion issues that have occured at the creek in recent years.

Let’s see what happened last month…

What have we learned?
